Heading to Africa: Day 0
I am blessed. I‘m writing this post on the eve of my trip to Rwanda and Ethiopia with Brian and Sandee Rhodes (see their picture from our conference below).
This past weekend Katie and I were able to travel to Sacramento for another Awana Ministry Conference. One of the workshops I presented was for student leaders called, Standing Up In A Troubled World. I spoke on standing up for your faith and sharing the Hope we have within us as one approved. I spoke from 1 Peter 3:15, “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” and 2 Timothy 2:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”
As I think about leaving on this opportunity of a lifetime tomorrow, I can’t seem to get these verses out of my head. I pray that God will use me on this trip and that He will move in the lives of these children and leaders in Africa who are a part of our Awana family. I pray that I will do my best to for God, and share His love with gentleness and respect.
I know the Holy Spirit is going before me, and that God will be glorified through this work in Africa. Will you pray this prayer with me - “Father, I pray that all children and youth, in Kansas, in Africa, and around the world, will come to experience the hope of your Son, Jesus Christ; that they will come to Know Him, Love Him, and Serve Him in their lives.”
I ask that you also pray for Katie and our girls while I’m gone. Thank you for your prayers and support.
