Edify - Day 6

Edify - to instruct or improve (someone) morally or intellectually.

Today we had the chance to go to Edify Rwanda, an organization focused on improving and expanding Christ-centered education. Edify works with close to 500 private Christian schools in Rwanda, and in the past 2 years, 90 of those schools have started Awana. There are many more opportunities to disciple children in 400+ more Edify partnered schools throughout Rwanda.

I Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” That is edification, building up one another and improving others in their knowledge of scripture and their relationship with Jesus. It is my prayer that I can build up the people around me, much like the blog from yesterday mentioned in Mark 2.

We had the chance to visit Busy Bees Foundation School out in the suburbs of Kigali. The school started just 5 years ago, and now has over 300 children, ages 3-12. What is interesting about this school is that they do Awana Games everyday at the end of the school day (they get out before lunch), and have Large Group and Small Group time on Fridays.

It was such a joy to see the smiles and hear a young man step out and welcome us and pray for us! We were able to encourage this School Leader/Owner about the great work she is doing. God is continuing to show us ways that Awana is being used to further His Kingdom! Thank you for your prayers! We will be visiting 2 more Awana Clubs tomorrow and seeing how they are reaching kids with the Gospel! Pray for our visits, that we will stay healthy and safe, and that boys and girls here will continue to come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ!
